Growing Number of SRNAs

The number of nurse anesthetists who are graduating and being certified continues to increase. In 1989, 592 nurse anesthetists graduated, and 574 became certified. In 1999, 948 graduated; 881 became certified. In 2003, 1,474 graduated; 1,454 became certified. An estimated 1,870 nurse anesthetists will graduate in 2005, which would exceed the 1995 peak of 1,814 graduates in anesthesiology.

Planning is currently underway for an in-person conference on a yet-to-be-determined date this October. We hope to have this in the Anchorage/Girdwood area. Expect more information very soon!
